AWARDS

ENTRIES ARE CLOSED

Ad Age is issuing a call for its first class of Web3 Marketing Trailblazers. We’re looking for the most innovative marketers at brands, agencies, tech companies, publishers, startups and Web3 communities. If you, or any marketing visionary you know, is making it in the metaverse, then we want to recognize them.

The list of 2023 honorees will reflect individuals who worked on campaigns or other brand-building initiatives in 2022 to help companies explore Web3, and Web3-adjacent spaces. These projects should go beyond a basic NFT drop or one-time token promotion. Marketers should be thinking about the next level of the metaverse by collaborating with Web3 communities, designing digital products and building virtual worlds.

This is Ad Age’s first official honorific for Web3, and we are looking for the brand builders who can show the way for generations to come. And don’t forget: WAGMI!

DETAILS

Ad Age’s Web3 Marketing Trailblazers will honor the most talented individuals in Web3, and the technologies that surround it. A successful candidate will have at least one example, from the past 12 months, of working on a project that advanced a brand’s Web3 strategy. Candidates can be from a brand, ad agency, publisher, tech platform or startup. The program is open to individuals of any role within an organization, from up-and-comers to executive-level candidates.

In this case, Web3 includes projects that embrace decentralized communities, tokenized economies, and blockchain technology. But they are not limited by those constraints, understanding that not all the technology is fully operational. The projects can represent the proto-metaverse from pioneers in the space. Brand Web3 activations can include: Video games, mixed reality, virtual goods, digital fashion, virtual influencers, NFT collaborations, and more.

How to enter

Using the entry form, in 350 words or less tell us why your nominee is right for Ad Age’s Web3 Marketing Trailblazers honor. The honor will go to individuals who led, or were an essential part of, a team that developed a Web3 activation in the past 12 months. The activation or project can reflect any aspect of Web3 and the metaverse.

We are looking for people who are pushing the boundaries for brands in Web3. The individual should be thinking about how the next-generation of the web will lead to the next billion-dollar brands, and have a roadmap for helping those brands.

Supporting assets

You can attach any case studies or product demos that support your work. The more specific you can be in showing KPIs—key performance indicators—the better. The KPIs could be examples like number of visits to a virtual activation; number of impressions from an augmented reality campaign; sales from a product drop; or number of signups to a Web3 loyalty program. If you’re from a brand or publisher developing a Web3 strategy, you could share the number of new hires working on metaverse projects, or examples of new technology you deployed.

Please include a high-res photo of the nominee. If you have a high-res image of the candidate’s avatar from any virtual world or social platform, you could share that, too. (Along with the high-res photo.)

Pricing

The fee is $350 per entry. You may nominate multiple executives from one company, but each must be a separate entry. No team entries will be accepted.

Deadline

FAQs

Marketers or those who have made a significant contribution to the marketing of, or brand presence in, Web3 or Web3-adjacent spaces within the last year. Entrants can be from brands, advertising agencies, tech companies, publishers, startups or Web3 communities. The program is open to individuals of any role within an organization, from up-and-comers to executive-level candidates.

This is not a lifetime achievement award; specifically, we look for meaningful or measurable accomplishments within the past 12 months.

International entrants are accepted; all entries must be made in English. No team entries will be accepted. If you have more than one candidate, please submit them as a separate entry.

Web3 includes projects that incorporate decentralized communities, tokenized economies and blockchain technology. The projects can represent the proto-metaverse from pioneers in the space, too. Brands’ Web3 activations can include video games, mixed reality, virtual goods, digital fashion, virtual influencers, NFT collaborations and more.

For more information about Ad Age’s Web3 coverage, and examples of work, check our metaverse blog, here, and our NFT blog, here.

We request that you submit a compelling 350-word summary in English addressing why you or your nominee deserves the honor. Please also submit a headshot.

Nominators may also submit supporting evidence, including case studies from work, creative pieces (images, videos) or links to product demos. Work supporting a candidate’s submission must have debuted and run within the past 12 months. Please also be judicious with your selections—it’s better to provide a shorter but dense picture of the entrant’s accomplishments than a laundry list.

No. Nominees from outside the U.S. are welcome to enter; all entries must be made in English.

No. Anything included in an entry should be considered as public information. There’s no space for explicitly confidential information, and we ask entrants to anticipate that anything in their entry could become public—mostly because we don’t want to wind up trying to honor a winner without being able to tell anyone why we want to honor them.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023 at 5 p.m. ET.

Honorees will be notified in April 2023 and published on AdAge.com in late spring.

If you still experience any issues logging in, please email awards@adage.com.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please pay close attention to all the entry requirements as fees are non-refundable once entries are submitted.

Please keep in mind: Anything you submit, including results of the work, may be published. Do not submit anything you wish to withhold as private information or that you do not have permission to share publicly. This also includes ghost campaigns or imaginary or inflated revenue figures.

As part of Ad Age’s own diversity efforts, we encourage all those entering to carefully consider those on your team from diverse backgrounds, as well as the work they have done, when you assess submissions. This is an opportunity to shine a light on all your talents, especially those who may have not received recognition in the past.
